The 3 Roaring Bells: Hold and Win slot is Playson’s new three-reel fruit game, and its twist is a Hold and Win bonus that can change shape from round to round. Trade coverage of the launch is dated 15 October 2026, our release calendar lists it from the same day, and the supplier’s notice to operators marked it live on 16 October.
On the surface it is a classic: cherries, lemons, red 777s and five paylines. The interest sits above the reels, where three coloured Bells decide which version of the bonus you get. Below we cover how that works, what the figures mean in money, and which claims you should not take at face value yet.
What is the 3 Roaring Bells: Hold and Win slot?
It is a 3×3, five-payline video slot from Playson with a Hold and Win bonus, four fixed jackpots and a bonus buy. Playson’s studio page in our data lists 108 games, and the studio is best known for exactly this format, so the novelty here is the mechanics, not the genre. You can see how other studios compare on our studio comparison page.
The base game is simple. Symbols are fruits, from cherries and lemons to grapes and watermelons, plus red 777 Wilds that replace any fruit but not Bells. Three 777s on a payline pay 50x your bet and three watermelons pay 30x, according to the review notes we worked from.
iGamingToday’s review lists bets from 0.20 to 100 in your currency. We have not confirmed that range with Playson, so check the paytable at your casino.
How does the bonus work?
The bonus is a Hold and Win round: you start with three respins, every Bell that lands stays in place and resets the counter to three, and the round ends when you run out of respins or fill the grid. What sets this game apart is the three Special Bells above the reels, which can switch on extra features.
During the base game, coloured Bells that land are collected by matching Bells above the reels. When one or more Special Bells land, they can randomly trigger the bonus with one or several features active, and any Bell landing in the main game can also trigger the Extra Bonus Feature, which adds enough Bonus and Collect symbols to start it.
| Special Bell | Feature | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Red | Expand | Adds two rows, so the bonus grid goes from 3×3 (9 cells) to 3×5 (15 cells). |
| Green | Double | Marks four cells where landing values are doubled; six cells if Expand is also active. |
| Blue | Extra | When the bonus ends, a new round starts immediately and keeps the features that were active at the start of the previous round. |
Two more pieces matter. Collect Symbols land only on the middle reel, stay put for the rest of the round and gather the values of later Bells, with collected values reaching up to 8x according to iGamist’s report. Jackpot symbols add four fixed prizes: Mini 15x, Minor 30x, Major 100x and Grand 1,000x your bet (the 1,000x top figure is in Playson’s launch coverage; the lower three come from review notes).
- 1Bells land in the main gameColoured Bells are collected by the matching Special Bells above the reels.
- 2Special Bells switch on featuresRed Expand (3x5 grid), green Double (4 or 6 marked cells), blue Extra (repeat round).
- 3Bonus starts with 3 respinsEach Bell that lands stays in place and resets the counter to 3.
- 4Collect and Jackpot symbols payCollect gathers later Bell values (up to 8x); jackpots run from 15x to 1,000x.
- 5Round ends, or Extra restarts itWith Extra active, a new round begins at once with the same features.
Order of events as described in Playson's launch coverage; Special Bell features are chosen at random in the main game, or all three are guaranteed by the 200x buy.
Save or share this infographicWhich feature is worth more? Double only helps if a valuable Bell lands in a marked cell, so it is a smaller boost than it sounds. Expand is the more reliable upgrade: six extra cells give Bells, Collect and Jackpot symbols more room and keep the respin counter resetting for longer. Extra is the quiet one, because a repeat round with Expand and Double still active is where the best sessions are likely to come from. Our slot feature dictionary explains Hold and Win, respins and collect mechanics if any term is new.
What are the RTP, volatility and max win?
Playson’s operator notice gives an RTP of 95.51%, meaning the game returns €95.51 of every €100 staked on average over a very long run. That leaves a house edge of 4.49%, or €4.49 per €100 (the same in £ or $), and it says nothing about any single session.
Public listings are inconsistent. iGamingToday shows the RTP as not listed, one other review quotes 95.36%, and casinos can run different RTP versions of the same Playson game. The figure in the in-game help screen at your casino is the one that counts.
For context, Playson’s average slot RTP in our data is 94.44%. At 95.51% this game sits 1.07 points above it, or about €1.07 more returned per €100. Our RTP calculator shows what that means at your own stake.
Volatility, the size and spacing of wins, is listed as medium-high on most sites and high in one review. Expect long quiet stretches in the base game between bonus rounds.
Max win needs care. The supplier’s notice gives a “max exposure” of €1,002,000, which is a cap on the payout from a single bet, in money, not a multiplier. Several listing sites show a 10,000x maximum, but we could not find that figure in Playson’s own launch material.
There is a tell, though. If the cap applies to a 100 maximum stake, €1,002,000 divided by €100 is 10,020x, which is close to the 10,000x on the listings. That is arithmetic, not confirmation, so treat 10,000x as likely but unverified. What Playson does state is the 1,000x Grand jackpot, which pays 200 at a 0.20 stake, 1,000 at a 1.00 stake and 100,000 at a 100 stake. The max win calculator does the same sum for any stake.

Is Extra Bet or Bonus Buy worth it?
Extra Bet costs 1.5x your stake and doubles the chance of triggering the bonus, while Bonus Buy lets you pay 75x or 200x your bet to start it directly. Both cost more per spin than normal play, so they change how fast your budget moves, not the odds in your favour.
| Option | Cost multiple | At 0.20 stake | At 1.00 stake |
|---|---|---|---|
| Normal spin | 1x | 0.20 | 1.00 |
| Extra Bet spin | 1.5x | 0.30 | 1.50 |
| Bonus Game (buy) | 75x | 15.00 | 75.00 |
| Super Bonus Game (buy) | 200x | 40.00 | 200.00 |
A worked example shows the scale. If a buy returned the same 95.51% as the base game (Playson may set it differently), a 75x buy at a 1.00 stake would cost 75.00 and return 71.63 on average, an average cost of 3.37. The 200x buy would return 191.02 on average for 200.00, an average cost of 8.98. Either way, a single buy can land far below or above those averages.
The 200x Super Bonus is the only option where Playson says all three Special Bell features are guaranteed. The 75x version starts with at least one feature, per the review notes we have, so you do not choose which.
What we would do: try Extra Bet in demo first, because it is the cheaper way to see more bonuses, and treat the 200x buy as an expensive single shot. The bonus buy cost checker prices a buy at your RTP, and our list of bonus buy slots shows how other games price theirs. Bonus buys are switched off in some markets, and the RTP can differ when you use Extra Bet or a buy.
What do most players get wrong about this slot?
Three assumptions cause most of the confusion.
- Treating 10,000x as the confirmed top prize. Only the 1,000x Grand is in Playson’s launch coverage; the rest is third-party listing data.
- Thinking Double doubles everything. It marks four cells (six with Expand) out of 9 or 15, so most landed Bells will not be boosted.
- Buying the 75x bonus to get the 200x experience. Only the Super Bonus guarantees all three Special Bell features.
How does it compare with Playson’s other Hold and Win slots?
It has a higher RTP than most of Playson’s Hold and Win games in our data, but it suits a different player: three reels and a changing bonus rather than a big grid and a huge ceiling. Our data does not yet hold a max win or volatility rating for it, so those cells stay open.
| Game | RTP | Volatility | Max win (our data) | Bonus buy |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3 Roaring Bells: Hold and Win | 95.51% (supplier) | Medium-high to high (listings) | Not yet in our data | Yes (75x / 200x) |
| Thunder Coins XXL: Hold and Win | 94.50% | High | 5,405x | Yes |
| Royal Joker: Hold and Win | 92.62% | High | 21,150x | No |
| 3 Pots Riches: Hold and Win | 95.76% | High | 16,746x | No |
The closest match in feel is Royal Joker, the other fruit-and-classic Hold and Win in the table. Its listed ceiling is far higher, but its RTP is almost three points lower than this game’s supplier figure. Among Playson’s bonus-buy games, Thunder Coins XXL is the nearest on features.
The trade-off is plain: at €100 staked, Royal Joker’s 92.62% returns €2.89 less on average than 3 Roaring Bells, but its 21,150x ceiling is more than twice the 10,000x that listings quote here. If you like the compact format across studios, browse our top Hold & Win slots.

Where can you play it?
The game is live with Playson operators, but casinos add new releases at different speeds, so it may not be in every lobby yet. The supplier’s advice to operators is to refresh the game list. If you cannot find it, try the demo at a casino that carries Playson.

Offers often limit which slots you can use with bonus funds, so a brand-new game may not be eligible. Our guide to slots for clearing a bonus shows what usually counts.
Is it worth trying?
Yes, if you like Hold and Win and prefer a compact grid you can follow at a glance. The base game is plain, the bonus is where the variety is, and the 95.51% supplier RTP is better than Playson’s 94.44% average in our data.
